Anthony DeOrsey
As a consultant at the Cleantech Group, I work with multinational corporations and city governments on strategies for improving their cleantech portfolio development or utilization.
Prior to my current role, I was a vice general manager in a global startup accelerator, where I worked with help startups in the IoT, digital health, and smart mobility verticals grow beyond the series-A stage toward sustainable levels of investment and commercialization in global markets. I have advised startups on product validation strategies, financial planning, and positioning to investors, with a focus on US-China expansion.
From 2012-2016 I worked in Shanghai - 2 years as marketing director for a consumer goods startup, the first brand of all-natural cleaning and body care products produced in China, and 3 years at a China market-entry project management firm, supporting technology companies from the US and Europe to access markets in China. I was a co-author of the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and Swiss Embassy annual “Business in China / Swiss Business in China” reports in 2015, 2016, and 2017.
I’ve worked both inside of startups and in advisory roles supporting startups and small-to-medium sized companies taking on risky cross-border expansion projects. Coming from an environment where risk is the norm, it is important to not only possess sound analytical abilities, but also to develop an intuition for decision-making in high-pressure situations that often don’t have clear precedents. I’ve come to Ross to learn from world-leading professors in order to better train my intuitions, and also to absorb perspectives and problem-solving approaches from a pool of classmates coming from a diverse range of industries and skill sets.
