Bolanle Abiru
Prior to Ross, I spent 6 years in the Consumer Goods, Management Consulting and Financial Technology space - helping out in the articulation of strategies for growth. Primarily, I worked at the intersection of the consumer, strategy and technology which gave me a well-rounded business experience. My decision to pursue an MBA was borne out of my desire to hone critical business and leadership skills to truly make lasting impact as I move into higher roles considering the fact that I do not possess the traditional business background.
Ross was always a first choice for me because of its collaborative culture and resourceful community, its unique Multidisciplinary Action Project (MAP) and the college city life in Ann Arbor. Coming from a fast-paced city like Lagos in Nigeria, I always saw the city of Ann Arbor as an opportunity to recalibrate my mind.
Asides my professional career, I have also been involved in pro-bono work for non-profits like Lagos Food Bank in Nigeria and played a strategic role in MasterCard Foundation's mandate to solve the unemployment problem in Nigeria. On this program till date, I deployed strategies that succeeded in training 1 million Nigerian youth and placing 450,000 in decent work.
For fun, I'm an amateur mixologist trying to learn the science behind drinks and have created some of my specialty drinks!
I'm excited to speak my very unique journey to Ross, the international student experience, the city of Ann Arbor, MBA programming and all else you might find useful in your application journey.
