Hillary
Hometown: Miami, FL
Hi there! I’m so happy to know that you are here. My name is Hillary and I am a junior BBA concentrating in Technology & Operations. I was born and raised in Miami, FL and yes, I chose the exact opposite kind of weather for college. My Michigan Ross journey began during high school, where my mentor encouraged me to apply to attend the 2019 Michigan Ross All-Access Weekend. I knew that I was interested in pursuing a business degree, but was unsure of what school I would attend. So, being open to the process, I chose to apply to the fly-in program, was accepted, and developed strong connections during my time there. Being in Michigan wearing the block M, especially in Ann Arbor, you really see the passion that people have for this school. All the “Go Blue!” and “Hail!” chants I got in the airport on my way back home after AAW 2019 was heartwarming, and I truly felt like I was a part of the Wolverine family.
Four years later, I am grateful to be at this school. Ross has an environment that offers its students many opportunities, as well as the resources and tools to help us make the most of such experiences. Apart from learning about cutting-edge business concepts from great professors, being in the Ross environment has taught me a lot about myself. Taking BA and BCOM core classes that focused on self reflection and building soft skills has been insightful. But more importantly, having ample opportunity to apply these newfound ideas, both in and out of the classroom, has been a game changer for me. My Ross experiences helped me identify and harness the power of my strengths, viewing life through the lens of a growth mindset–something that is emphasized here. So, if you are interested in learning useful business skills in a dynamic environment that challenges you, I encourage you to continue exploring Ross during your college search.
