Luis Veliz Cornejo

Class of 2026

I was born and raised in Ica, Peru, and spent the last nine years before my MBA living in Medellín, Colombia, where I oversaw financial operations across Latin America and Asia in the Chemical Industry. These experiences gave me valuable insights into diverse cultures and business practices, shaping my approach to leadership and innovation.

My expertise lies in financial strategy and change management, and I am passionate about driving business transformation through tailored financial solutions. Leveraging world-class tools, I help companies thrive in complex environments. This passion led me to co-found BPOptimal, a company dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs in Colombia and Peru with outsourcing services.

I chose Ross for its strong sense of community and global outlook, as well as its hands-on learning opportunities. I’m eager to participate in the Multidisciplinary Action Projects (MAP) and contribute to a student-led investment fund, tackling real-world business challenges. The combination of practical experience and the close-knit community of Ann Arbor made Ross the perfect place for my professional and personal growth.

In my free time, I love traveling and immersing myself in new cultures through their folklore and music. I’m also an avid documentary photographer, capturing stories and landscapes from my journeys.
