Nelson Engle
Growing up my dad was in the United States Air Force so I moved around quite often. I graduated high school in Oklahoma City before heading off to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for my undergrad. I was an Army ROTC cadet and earned my commission as an Armor Officer in the United States Army. I then spent 7 years on active duty serving in a variety of roles, my final role I served as a Basic Training Commander at Fort Moore, GA.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Army but ultimately decided to transition out and pursue civilian employment. Coming from a non-traditional background I determined that an MBA was the best way for me to learn the skills needed to succeed in an ever changing business world and after researching and exploring different schools I knew that Ross was the right program for me.
The main thing that drew me to Ross was first and foremost the people, in my option there isn't a better group of people than Ross MBA's. The community here is also extremely welcoming to students with partners, I moved to Ann Arbor with my wife and she has probably made more friends than I have. Along with the people and culture I was also drawn to Ross due to their focus on action-based learning and overall career outcomes. I am currently recruiting either consulting or general management.
Ross student ambassadors played a key role in helping my make my decision and I hope to pay it forward to anyone looking at coming to the best MBA program in the world!
