Rebecca Macies
Hello! I came to Ann Arbor after spending most of my life in New York. I studied natural resources management at Cornell University and began my career in New York City after graduation. I knew that I was interested in the intersection of sustainability and finance, but didn't have a clear path for how to find it. Instead, I started my career briefly consulting for startups, then spent a few years with a sustainability consulting firm, and most recently spent years in an operations role with an alternative asset management firm. I made the decision to come back to business school to combine my interest in sustainability and finance.
I chose Ross because of the strength of the community here. Starting at the beginning of the application process, the Michigan Ross community has been a consistent source of support. The current students and alumni that I've spoken to genuinely want to help and pay it forward for all the Wolverines who do the same. It's the kind of community I look forward to being a part of as an alumna.
During my first year at Ross, I applied to the dual-degree program with the School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) to further support my career goals in sustainable finance. I'm currently part of Michigan Climate Venture, one of several student-led venture capital funds, as well as several student clubs. Outside of student organizations, I have also participated in programs put on by the Sanger Leadership Center and ZLI that have challenged me and helped me develop my leadership and business skills.
I'm happy to talk about any of my experiences at Ross, being a New Yorker in Michigan, or whichever stage of the business school application process you're in! Go Blue!
