Sam Schmitt
Prior to Ross, I spent four years with Deloitte Consulting in Chicago, working on human capital (think people strategy) projects in the healthcare and life sciences industry. I chose to attend business school to deep-dive the healthcare and life sciences industry, continue to learn about the business world, and hone in on my leadership development journey to return to the workforce as a better business leader.
I always knew Ross was the best fit for me. Not only does Ross offer incredible classroom and experiential learning opportunities, but also a great collaborative environment where I knew I would be able to be my authentic self while growing as an individual. The Ross culture is so genuine - everyone wants to do everything they can to help you grow and be the best version of yourself.
At Ross, I currently serve as the Co-President of Michigan Business Women and the VP of External Affairs & Alumni Relations for the Healthcare and Life Sciences Club. I am also a Healthcare Peer Coach to help MBA1s on their recruiting journey. I also served as a Board Fellow and was a part of the 2023-2024 Ross Leaders Academy cohort. This summer I interned with DaVita through their Redwoods Leadership Development Program in Denver.
I moved to Ann Arbor with my partner (who has also been loving his Ross / partner friends!) and we have enjoyed exploring downtown and the surrounding areas. Outside of Ross, I love to cook for my friends, bake sourdough, travel, and cheer for the Penn State Nittany Lions (yes, you can have other college football allegiances!).
I would be happy to speak with you about coming to business school from the consulting industry, life as an MBA student, learning more about the healthcare industry, moving to Ann Arbor with a partner, and anything else you find helpful in this process. Go Blue!
