Dave Ostreicher

Dave Ostreicher is a Lecturer at the University of Michigan, holding dual appointments in the Ross School of Business and the College of Engineering. At Ross, he is part of the Technology & Operations Area, and in the College of Engineering, he teaches within the Industrial & Operations Engineering Department.

Dave brings over 20 years of industry experience from his career at Toyota's North American Research & Development Headquarters, where he worked in the Purchasing Supplier Development Division. During this time, he completed two multi-year assignments in Japan, serving as a liaison between the North American Purchasing organization and Toyota’s global headquarters. In his most recent role, he led strategic initiatives for North American battery electric vehicles.

Throughout his career, Dave has held several leadership roles, including overseeing procurement for the North American production of Toyota and Lexus sedans, managing supplier-facing information systems, and directing an annual $1.5 billion spend for North American stamped body shell components. He also played a pivotal role in educating and developing hundreds of supply chain professionals.

Dave is a proud alumnus of the University of Michigan, where he earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Industrial & Operations Engineering, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Japanese Language & Literature. As a student, he was president of the Engineering Global Leadership Honors Program, a Fellow of the Tauber Institute for Global Operations, and a leader in AIESEC, Residence Education, and the Michigan Pops Orchestra.

In his personal time, Dave enjoys cycling, playing the trumpet, international travel, and spending time with his wife and three children, creating memories over good food and drink.
