Happy Spring from Ann Arbor!

All our MBA students are celebrating this week. MBA1s wrapped up MAP - their company-sponsored, action-based projects - last week, while MBA2s participated in commencement ceremonies.

In the United States, there is much to be optimistic about for this spring/summer and especially for the fall. I recognize, however, this is not everyone’s reality. My heart goes out to my friends, colleagues, and prospective students in India right now, and to so many communities and countries that are disproportionately impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

At Michigan Ross, we remain committed to listening, learning, and improving the experience for students and candidates from all backgrounds. It is with that in mind, that I am proud to announce we will continue offering candidates the option to request a waiver of our standardized test requirements for the 2021-2022 admissions cycle.

What we learned from the test waiver process this year

Test waivers were at the top of the team’s annual process review discussion. We found that many incredible applicants applied using a test waiver. Whether it was prior coursework, work experience, or professional certifications, they demonstrated their ability to handle the rigor of the MBA program without a standardized test.

Information about the 2021-22 test waiver application process will be available in late May, and the opportunity to apply for a test waiver will be available when the new application launches in July. If an applicant is granted a test waiver, that request will be valid in any round in the 2021-22 cycle.

Most frequently asked question: Should I apply for a test waiver?

The best candidates for a test waiver are those who can demonstrate analytical skills in another way. That said, for some candidates, a strong test score can strengthen their candidacy.

Our FAQ page has more information about considerations regarding recruiting and scholarship opportunities. We encourage all candidates to carefully reflect upon their particular situation and contact us with any questions at rossadmissions@umich.edu.

We’re excited to make calls to our Round 3 admits on May 4. And don’t forget, there's still time to start your MBA this fall. The Round 4 application deadline is June 1.
