If you are a UM-SJTU Joint Institute student, you can enhance your engineering background with business knowledge in the Michigan Ross Master of Management Program.
There are two options for you to transition into the Master of Management program. Either way, you’ll begin and end the program with all of your peers in Ann Arbor.
OPTION 1. Spend winter term (January through April) as a non-degree undergraduate student at the University of Michigan prior to starting the MM program in June.
OPTION 2. Graduate from the UM-SJTU Joint Institute early, and join the MM program at the normal start date, typically in mid-June.
Spend some extra time at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor as you complete your undergraduate degree from the UM-SJTU Joint Institute. You’ll finish your coursework in Ann Arbor during the winter semester (the Joint Institute’s summer semester) and have plenty of time to settle in at U-M before the MM program begins.
If you’re interested in this option, you need to apply early in the application cycle — ideally in July or early August before your senior year. Your application must be submitted by September 1. If you are admitted, confirm your intention to enroll by October 1. Early application is critical to ensure adequate time to prepare your visa materials, receive your visa, and register for courses.
Get in touch with your academic advisor at the Joint Institute to make sure you can take courses at the University of Michigan that will fulfill all of your outstanding requirements to receive your undergraduate degree in June.
As a non-degree student at the undergraduate level, you will be responsible for out-of-state University of Michigan tuition rates. You will also need to pay tuition for the summer semester to the UM-SJTU Joint Institute. Finally, you will pay tuition for the Master of Management degree, which is in addition to the non-degree tuition and SJTU tuition.
If you can complete your undergraduate degree from the UM-SJTU Joint Institute early, you should apply to the Master of Management program through the regular application process. It is important to note that you must have fully completed your undergraduate degree at the UM-SJTU Joint Institute so that you can arrive in Ann Arbor in the middle of June for the start of the MM program.
If you are interested in applying to the Master of Management program and have questions regarding either of these options, please contact the MM Program Office at email@example.com
