Diverse and Accomplished: Michigan Ross Welcomes Its Strongest Class of Full-Time MBA Students Yet

Image

It seems like every year the quality and diversity of the incoming full-time MBA class continues to increase, and this year is no exception. The 421 MBA students who make up the Michigan Ross Class of 2021 are highly accomplished individuals with diverse experiences and skills to share with their peers and the Ross community.

Not only do they have impressive test scores and GPAs, this newest class of MBAs includes the highest percentage of women ever at 45 percent - breaking last year’s record-setting 43 percent and continuing to reflect the commitment of Ross to gender parity.

The class also ties the record for the largest percentage of underrepresented U.S. minority students in the school’s history. In addition, the class includes students from 33 countries around the world and speak several languages (one student speaks five!).

The MBAs bring experience from a wide range of industries. Consulting tops the list at 26 percent, followed by finance, tech, healthcare, education/nonprofit, and government/military. They also worked at 260 different companies -- from Alibaba to the White House.

As undergrads, they pursued 130 different majors: 38 percent were business-related, 33 percent STEM, and 29 percent humanities.

Beyond the numbers, the incoming MBAs bring with them a trove of remarkable experiences to enrich the student body. There is an Air Force Academy alum who has led an elite team responsible for IT for the President and the Vice President of the United States at the White House and on Air Force One; an MD/MBA candidate who created an AI program that can diagnose brain cancer with the accuracy of a neuropathologist; and a data science project manager who has performed on National Public Radio’s “From The Top” classical music show.

We are proud to have these new Rossers as part of the Class of 2021 and can’t wait to see what they achieve here!
