A continuing commitment to providing working professionals with a highly flexible, action-based online program has landed the Ross School of Business at No. 2 on Poets&QuantsBest Online MBA Programs in the U.S. for 2025 list.

The OMBA Program moved up two spots after last year’s second-straight No. 4 ranking. In only its third year of eligibility since launching in 2019, the Michigan Ross OMBA Program earned the No. 2 designation among 57 domestic peers.

“We are proud to see our OMBA Program move up in the Poets&Quants’ ranking,” said S. Sriram, associate dean for graduate programs. “This is a testament to the strength of our curriculum, the expertise of our faculty, and our innovative learning experience. We remain committed to delivering a rigorous, transformative, and collaborative program that challenges students and helps accelerate their careers.”

P&Q’s ranking weighs three primary categories — admissions standards, academic experience, and career outcomes. Instead of weighing all three categories equally as has been done in the past, P&Q reduced the weight of admissions data due to many programs going test-optional and also included metrics in six-year graduation and one-year retention rates. Academic experience and career outcomes data was gathered from alumni surveys completed between July and October 2024, requiring a 10% response rate to be considered.

The Michigan Ross OMBA Program is highly experiential and delivers course content asynchronously and through live online sessions through the Digital Education Studios. Students participate in three in-person residencies in Ann Arbor and around the world.

The newest members of the Michigan Ross OMBA Program include 161 accomplished professionals who live and work in 27 U.S. states. Their average seven years of work experience span diverse backgrounds, including internet and software services, finance, healthcare, and the military. Their undergraduate degrees are in a wide range of disciplines, such as engineering, business and economics, and social sciences/humanities, bringing valuable perspectives and insights. Additionally, 30% already hold an advanced degree.
