Career Background

Corey Tobin is a research analyst and Partner on William Blair’s U.S. growth and core equity strategies, focusing on U.S. small-cap technology companies. Corey also served as the team’s co-director of research from 2017 to 2022.

Before rejoining William Blair in 2012, he was the senior vice president of healthcare solutions and corporate planning for Trustwave Holdings, Inc., a provider of data security and compliance solutions. In this role, Corey led Trustwave’s administrative and planning functions, such as its financial planning and analysis, human resources, sales operations, facilities, investor relations, and special projects areas.

From 2001 through 2011, he served in William Blair’s sell-side research group, focusing on specialty software and healthcare IT companies; in this role Corey was recognized by the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, and Forbes.

Before joining William Blair, he was an associate at private-equity firm Willis Stein & Partners, an analyst in the M&A investment banking group of Merrill Lynch, and an associate in the financial advisory services practice at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers).

Corey received a B.S. in business administration with high distinction from the University of Michigan; an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management; and an M.S. in computer science with recognition from the University of Chicago.
