Career Background

Grant is currently VP of People for Coinbase, a remote-first company working to create an open financial system for the world via digital currencies and blockchain technology. He started his journey with Coinbase in 2018 leading the company's Business Operations & Strategy team and has since led the Talent, Learning, Rewards, Experience, and Workplace functions.

Prior to joining Coinbase, Grant was the Head of Strategy and New Project Sourcing for X -- formerly Google[x] -- Alphabet's innovation lab developing 'moonshot' technologies that address huge problems in the world. In this capacity, Grant was responsible for building and leading teams to own the identification, assessment, and strategic direction of new potential projects. Grant came to X after spending time as a Principal in Google's Business Operations & Strategy unit working on projects with nearly every major product across the company. Prior to his MBA, Grant had stints in management consulting with the Boston Consulting Group, and in the nonprofit sector with Feeding America.

Grant received his Masters in Business Administration with high distinction from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He also has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, magna cum laude, from Harvard University.

Grant lives in Boston with his wife, Andrea, and son, Ethan. When not working (or in a global pandemic), he is usually exploring another country at length, having walked across Spain, motorcycled the length of Vietnam, and hiked the Tour du Mont Blanc.
