Keziah Scholten, MAcc ‘18
Keziah was looking for a program with an accounting focus, and the friendliness of people in the Michigan Ross Master of Accounting Program caught her attention.
When I came to visit I could see that everyone was really close. It felt like a welcoming environment.
As a student, Keziah appreciates the relevance of the curriculum. “Most of the classes I’ve taken have aligned with something I’ve done in my internship or something I want to do in the future. A lot of the classes also match up with sections of the CPA exam, which will be helpful when I start studying.”
In addition to core accounting courses, a highlight was her elective Business Strategies for the Base of the Pyramid course. “In addition to MAcc and MBA students, there were environmental, dental, and medical students. It was definitely outside my comfort zone, but I’m passionate about emerging economies and it was a really great class.”
Outside of class, Keziah puts her accounting wisdom to work as a tutor. “I tutor kids privately at Ross in accounting and also work part-time for U-M Athletics. Having to explain the nitty-gritty details is a great refresher.”
After graduation, Keziah will work full-time as a tax accountant at BDO. Even with a great job lined up, she’s thrilled to know she can always rely on the Ross and U-M networks in the future.
“Everyone is always willing to help another Michigan alum. That’s not something you’re going to find at a lot of schools.”
