Lynn Kotwicki, BBA '94, recently won the election for Commodore of the prestigious Bayview Yacht Club (www.byc.com). The role is a 3-year term beginning with the 2020 Rear Commodore progressing to 2021 Vice Commodore, and 2022 Commodore. It is a significant step as Lynn is the first woman to have been elected for this position. Lynn is excited to continue her support and volunteerism in the amazing sport of sailboat racing. Paul Farah, MBA '82, has been named President and Chairman of the Board for the United Stated Tennis Association Midwest Section for the 2020-21 term. The USTA/Midwest Section is a 125-year-old organization based in Indianapolis. The USTA is the National governing organization for the game of tennis. Farah earned his bachelors and MBA degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He has been an executive and consultant in the automotive industry for over 35 years. Sena Kwawu, MBA '93, most recently SVP, Finance and Business Operations for Starbucks, will serve as Frontdoor SVP of operations. in his newly created executive role. Sena will lead Frontdoor’s service operations and oversee contractor relations for the company’s network of 17,000 prequalified contractor firms and 60,000 technicians. He will also be responsible for designing processes, metrics and systems that will help Frontdoor serve its 2.2 million customers and scale its operations for continued growth in the home services market segment. Danielle Shainbrown, BBA '01, was recently promoted as McGuire Development Company's new president and chief business officer. Danielle has grown McGuire’s unique Ownership Representation and Consultation practice over the past nine years, and works closely with the entire McGuire Development team to continuously innovate and improve customer experiences. Jake Freeman, BBA '13, recently completed the acquisition of the largest brand manufacturer of mochi ice cream in North America, The Mochi Ice Cream Co, from private equity firm Century Park Capital Partners. The Los Angeles-based ice cream company, which mainly manufactures the My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream brand was acquired by Michigan-based investment firm, Lakeview Capital. Freeman currently serves as the director of investments at Lakeview Capital. Est. 3.2020
Jeffrey E. Jarrett, BBA '62, is now the former Chairperson of the Department of Management Science at the University of Rhode Island. He holds degrees from the University of Michigan and New York University where he studied with W. Edwards Deming, among others. He has published extensively in: The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Finance and the Management Science Journal. Further, he presented many research papers at international and national conferences. At the end of this academic year, (2019-2020), he will retire from the faculty at URI/COB after 55 years in academic life, the last 49 at URI. He authored 6 books and about 250 academic publications.
