LATEST: Michigan Ross BBAs Go To Work for 234 Companies Around the World; Bank of America and PwC Among Top Employers
This year’s newly released BBA employment report by the Ross School of Business is further proof of the strength and versatility of an undergraduate degree from Michigan Ross.
Michigan Ross BBA graduates from the Class of 2021 went to work for 234 global companies and organizations, up from 185 the previous year, and including many of the most sought-after employers. The top hiring companies were PwC, Bank of America, EY/Parthenon, Deloitte, Citi, Morgan Stanley, and KPMG International.
Financial services remains largest industry; notable gains in marketing, accounting, sports and entertainment
As represented by the top employers, the largest percentage of 2021 BBA grads went into financial services, but the report showed increased interest in other industries versus previous years. More graduates pursued jobs in marketing and accounting, and the sports/media/entertainment industry also emerged as a distinct category.
Over 75% of grads accepted jobs on the East Coast, West Coast, or Chicago.
High salary packages and percentage of offers received
Offers to the Class of 2021 remained consistently strong as with previous years, with 94% of the class receiving offers by Sept. 30, and 93.3% accepting their offer by that time. The mean salary package was $84,000, and the mean salary was $76,295, up from the Class of 2020 ($75,575), and driven in part by the diversity of employers and job functions.
Around 70% of the hires were facilitated by the Career Development Office at Michigan Ross.
“As with previous years, we are proud to have helped our 2021 graduates leverage their skills and experience to land the jobs they wanted — with strong offers attached — at top companies and organizations around the world,” said Heather Byrne, managing director of the Career Development Office. “In addition, the diversity of career outcomes and increase in hiring companies this year truly shows a BBA from Michigan Ross can take students anywhere in business. While financial services is still the top industry destination for our graduating BBAs, the shift to other industries signifies to us that students’ interests are evolving and that our ecosystem of support is facilitating students in pursuing a satisfying career path in any industry.”
BBAs intern at 232 companies in 2021
The new report also looks at the placement data for summer internships held by the Class of 2022. In 2021, 232 companies hired BBA interns, up from 207 in 2020. Those companies included many of the same highly desirable employers — such as Amazon, McKinsey & Co., Pfizer Inc., and Barclays — and the annualized salary they received this past summer was $63,000.
