Mackenzie Mock
I am a responsible fashion advocate working to advance the industry to safer, more equitable, and more environmentally sound practices. Prior to Ross, I worked full time at The Nature Conservancy leading various digital marketing and communications initiatives for their New York chapter. As the former volunteer Communications Director of Fashion Revolution USA, I helped spearhead campaigns that galvanized audiences around the country to advance the fashion revolution movement through education, policy, and event initiatives. This passion for responsible fashion ultimately led me to Michigan.
I have a keen desire to shift for-profit players in the fashion industry toward more responsible outcomes for people and planet, with the MBA/MS degree via the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise being a perfect fit for exploring important questions of social and environmental impact in the retail industry. Ross set itself apart as an action-based learning hub that imbues sustainability in a multitude of lenses, both in and outside of the Erb program, and it's been exciting to see this in action throughout my time at Michigan. At Ross, I'm grateful to have been involved with Michigan Climate Venture, Retail and Luxury Goods Club, and completing retail sustainability research with Ross professors, and am exploring interests in apparel industry sustainability strategy and operations post-grad. I completed a graduate internship with Nike's Global Sustainability team in summer 2024.
Across campus and beyond, I am a Student Committee Member of Fair Labor Association, Sustainability Consultant at Detroit-based garment manufacturer Industrial Sewing and Innovation Center, and an avid yoga practitioner and museum visitor.
