Sandra Verenisse Lazo Alegre

Class of 2024

I was born and raised in Lima, Peru.  Prior to Ross, I worked in construction management as a project management professional. My role was focused on planning, monitoring and control, and delivery of infrastructure projects. While the actual execution of infrastructure projects is exciting to watch, I felt like I was being pigeonholed in project control and wasn't getting any understanding about the business side of construction.

Consequently, I decided to get an MBA to round myself out and develop general business skills to make a career pivot into consulting. When looking at schools, Ross stood out as the best program for me because of the supportive and collaborative community and its emphasis on experiential learning by applying business principles to real-world scenarios. Additionally, I cannot stress enough the diversity of Ross student body in terms of culture, professional background and interests - as international student this is something that I highly value.

I'm currently involved in Community Case Competition (CCC) as VP of OPS and I am also an active member of Sanger Leadership Center as part of the Michigan Ross Leader Endorsement program.

Outside Ross, I enjoy spending my time doing outdoor activities. I love swimming, cycling and running. I am a huge sports fan in general and as you can expect I was immediately caught by U-M crazy school spirit!

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about Ross and MBA in general. GO BLUE!
