Fundamentals of Private Equity: A Practitioner's Approach --- This course is intended to provide students with a basic understanding of the fundamentals of private equity through an analysis and overview of the life cycle of a private equity fund. Starting with an overview of the history and evolution of the PE model and the understanding of the key levers of success that make PE an important part of the capital markets, the class will examine the basics of private equity through a step-by-step analysis of the mechanics involved in successfully raising dedicated capital, investing capital, managing, growing and optimizing a portfolio of private companies and ultimately exiting the portfolio to generate returns for investors.
