More About Our Guest Panelists:
Valerie (Val) Adams: Val has served part-time MBA students at Michigan Ross for the past 9 years. She is the point of contact for WMBA, OMBA, and evening students engaging with the Career Development Office and offers individual coaching appointments as well as career education programming and other job search preparation opportunities. Prior to joining Ross, Val spent a number of years in human resources working with staff seeking a career change. Val holds an MSW from the University of Michigan and an MS HR/OD from Eastern Michigan University.
Alexandra Foster: Alexandra is vice president, people strategy & experience for Kelly. Kelly is a global provider of workforce solutions, always thinking about what's next in the story of work, connecting talented people to companies in need of their skills and designing talent strategies that help businesses embrace the value of all workers and workstyles. In her role as leader of Kelly’s People Strategy & Experience team, Alex has oversight for the Recruiting, Learning & Development, Organizational Effectiveness, DEI and Sustainability teams. Alex earned a master’s degree in business administration and bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan.
Hatu Kanu: Hatu is an experienced talent acquisition professional and career coach. With a focus on tech talent, he has worked with and consulted for companies spanning the gaming, financial services, health tech, and startup industries. Hatu is passionate about the democratization of economic opportunity and started Power Pivots career coaching and podcast to further impact jobseekers. In his free time he enjoys meditating, traveling, and spending time with loved ones. He is a proud graduate of University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business and Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
Brian Lafer: Brian leads the TrueBridge Practice (part of True Search), which structures customized interim and fractional assignments for elite, executive talent seeking rewarding, high-impact work. Based in Chicago, Brian serves companies across a variety of senior roles. Prior to joining TrueBridge, Brian spent 11 years leading the largest commercial and revenue-producing teams at Business Talent Group (BTG). He is deftly skilled in working with PE and VC backed portfolio companies along with public companies and thrives at the helm of high-production teams. Brian serves on the Ross School of Business Alumni Board of Governors to strengthen the connection between the school and its alumni as an alum of University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
