Sean Whelan, BBA/MAcc '94
Sean presently serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Forum Health, a nationwide provider of personalized, innovative and transformative health care services and clinics designed to help patients achieve their health goals. He also presently serves on the Board of Directors of Zomedica (NYSE MKT: ZOM). While he has spent much of his career in healthcare services, Sean has also worked in consumer products, automotive and public accounting. He has held senior leadership positions in a variety of company types – public, private equity-backed, and founder-owned.
Prior to Forum, Sean served as CEO (and previously CFO) for Encore Rehabilitation Services, CFO for Smile America Partners, Bedrock Manufacturing (Shinola and Filson brands), Diplomat Pharmacy (NYSE: DPLO) and InfuSystem Holdings (NYSE MKT: INFU). Sean was instrumental in leading Diplomat Pharmacy’s successful $200M IPO in October 2014, and helped the company grow from a $375M private company to a $4.4B public company (subsequently sold to UnitedHealth Group’s Optum). While at InfuSystem, he successfully completed a SPAC transaction and transitioned the firm to a public company. Prior to his various healthcare executive roles, Sean held senior finance positions with Ford Motor Company. He began his career with Deloitte, serving a diverse set of audit clients in the firm’s Detroit office. He also previously served on the Boards of Directors of Spar Group (NASDAQ: SGRP), and OptioRx (PE backed).
Sean holds Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Accounting degrees, both from Michigan’s Ross School of Business. Sean is a proud native of Marquette, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, having grown up in Marquette, MI. Sean and his wife, Kerie, have three children (Cate, Conor and Meg) and reside in Plymouth, MI. They also spend as much time as possible on Walloon Lake in Petoskey, MI.
