Transfer Application

1. Learn the academic requirements.

You must complete the following courses with a C or better by the end of the winter term in the year you apply. 
We evaluate your U-M transcript after winter-term grades are posted. Spring/summer courses are not considered.

Any course in Calculus I, II, or III. This includes AP credit for MATH 120 or 121, as well as IB, A-level, or transfer credit for an exact U-M course equivalent (not departmental credit, e.g., MATH 101X).

ECON 101. This includes IB, A-level, or transfer credit for the exact U-M course equivalent (not departmental credit, e.g., ECON 101X).

Any course approved as First-Year Writing in LSA, as approved through the U-M LSA Sweetland Center for Writing. This includes transfer credit for any course approved as First-Year Writing at U-M (not departmental credit, e.g., ENG 101X or ENGCMPTC 101X). ENGR 100 does not count as LSA First-Year Writing credit.

You must enroll full-time in your most recent year of college enrollment, fall and winter terms, regardless of previous credits earned.

2. Check the deadline.

Your application is due by March 31 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

The U-M Transfer Application will be available at the end of December.

3. Complete the essays.

We want to get to know you and let your best qualities shine through — this is our chance to learn more about the person behind the numbers.

1. Describe why you want to pursue a BBA degree at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, and how the Ross experience will support your personal and professional goals. (500-word maximum)

2. Reflect on your current or ongoing involvement in a specific organization outside of the classroom. Why did you join this organization? How did you make this organization or the community better? What did you learn? (500-word maximum)

Optional Essay Prompt

Briefly describe any unique personal circumstances, such as a major illness or personal tragedy, that have had a significant effect on your application credentials. Additionally, please describe any gaps in your academic record (e.g., lower course grade, taking a gap year between high school and college). If these circumstances are on-going, how will you manage them if admitted to the Stephen M. Ross School of Business?

4. Submit your application by March 31 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

Once the application is available, you can save your work and return to it as often as you like. Make sure you have uploaded the correct essays, and submit only your completed application. Once you submit your application, you may not alter or add to it in any way.

You may submit your application as early as February 15. The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. EDT on March 31. There are no exceptions. We strongly recommend you submit the application several days before the deadline to avoid last-minute problems. You will receive a confirmation email when we receive your application.

Our BBA program attracts the leaders and best from all over campus. As a U-M transfer student, you will join fellow high-achievers for three years of full-time fall-winter enrollment at Ross.
