Roberto Jiménez Rivera, BBA '12, was elected as the one at-large member of the Chelsea (MA) School Committee in November 2019, and sworn in on January 2, 2020. Having only recently moved to Chelsea, he and his small campaign knocked on over 4,000 doors, half of which he knocked himself, in order to get to know the community. Ultimately, he won a landslide victory and is excited to get to work on improving student learning and outcomes through a community-centered collaborative process informed by his knowledge of college access and education policy. Adam Nielsen, MBA '05, was named Chief Development Officer for Center for Diagnostic Imaging, Inc. In this role, Nielsen will drive expanding and growing CDI’s national network of outpatient-based diagnostic imaging centers through acquisitions and other partnership arrangements. Melissa Mabley, MBA '08, CFP®, CDFA®, recently joined Bartlett Wealth Management's Chicago office as a wealth advisor with an expertise in financial planning. Mabley will focus on clients in transition. She brings experience in supporting clients through major life events such as death or divorce. She also performs next-generation education and planning to support multi-generation families. Mabley earned her bachelor of arts in Spanish literature from Indiana University and her MBA from the University of Michigan.     Est. 2.2020

Dr. William C. Handorf, MBA '67, a professor of finance at the George Washington University School of Business was recently reelected to the board of directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, which is a $150 billion, SEC- registered wholesale institution. He previously served as a director with the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.   Est. 1.2020

Sarah Raiss, MBA '87, was named an Institute of Corporate Director's Fellow (F.ICD), as one of four corporate directors in 2020 and one of 93 directors since the inception of the award 22 years ago. This is Canada's highest distinction for board directors in Canada and awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions through exceptional governance leadership in the boardroom. In 2015, she was named a National Association of Corporate Director's D100 as one of the 50 most influential corporate directors in the U.S.  Est .1.2020

Howard Handler, MBA '85, Sports and Entertainment Innovator and Detroit Native is the new President at 313 Presents. Handler, who will oversee the booking, production, marketing and business opportunities at Little Caesars Arena, Comerica Park, the Fox Theatre, DTE Energy Music Theatre, Meadow Brook Amphitheatre on the campus of Oakland University and Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill, will report directly to the 313 Presents Board of Directors, comprised of executives from Ilitch Holdings, Inc., and Platinum Equity. Est. 12.2019

Rachel Levy Lesser, MBA '03, new book," Life's Accessories: A Memoir (And Fashion Guide)" was released from She Writes Press in November 2019. The book was selected as one of "11 Memoirs You Need to Be Reading Now" by Parade Magazine. There is even a chapter in the book on my time in Michigan called "Fleece Socks Will Keep You Warm at The University of Insomnia at Ann Arbor".  Est. 12.2019

Jennifer Nash, MBA '10, presented her recent empirical executive coaching research in October 2019 at Harvard University. She also attended the global ICF coaching conference in Prague, Czech Republic to bring the latest thinking in coaching back to her clients. Mike Mahaffey, MBA '02, Nationwide's Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer, will report to new CEO Kirt Walker. Mahaffey will oversee the company’s strategy in addition to mergers & acquisitions. Mike joined Nationwide in 2005 as Associate Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management. Prior to Nationwide, Mike’s career included roles at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher law firm, Deloitte Consulting and as an adjunct finance professor at The Ohio State University. Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from Pepperdine University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.  Est. 12.2019

Waleed Nassar, BBA ’04, partner at Lewis Baach Kaufmann Middlemiss PLLC, has been recognized as a 2019 “Equality Trailblazer” by the National Law Journal in its inaugural list of top lawyers who serve as “agents of change.” As a trailblazing litigator, Mr. Nassar has stood up for the rights of Muslims and other marginalized groups throughout his career, including representing detainees Guantanamo and Bagram and serving as defense counsel in one of the highest profile international terrorism cases ever to have been brought in U.S. Federal Court. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Waleed attended New York University School of Law.

Mark Lezotte, BBA '78, received the 2019 United Cerebral Palsy National Chair’s Award in March at UCP’s national conference in Chicago, for volunteer leadership to UCP. Lezotte has long served UCP in various roles, including as chair of UCP’s national public policy committee, member of the National Board of Trustees, and board member and president of the UCP/Detroit affiliate. In addition, in 2017 he received the Richard L. Beer Volunteer Award from UCP/Detroit for his longstanding commitment to UCP/Detroit and the disability community. Lezotte, a shareholder with the Detroit law firm Butzel Long, has also served in leadership roles on many other civic and nonprofit boards.  Est. 11.2019
