Michigan Ross Celebrates 2025 Alumni Awardees

Each year, the Ross School of Business upholds a proud tradition: recognizing alumni whose work exemplifies outstanding leadership, service, and impact. The 2025 Alumni Awards, presented by Edward J. Frey Dean of Business Sharon F. Matusik during Homecoming Weekend, continued this tradition, with the following awardees recognized as Leaders & Best of the Michigan Ross alumni community.
- John Habbert, MBA ’76 – David D. Alger Alumni Achievement Award
John Habbert, vice chair and fund manager of Queen City Angels, has spent more than two decades fueling innovation, investing in more than 120 startups, and expanding access for new generations of entrepreneurs. Under his leadership, QCA has grown into a national model for inclusive early-stage investing, helping bring over $1 billion in follow-on capital to promising ventures while cultivating a diverse community of investors and leaders.
Karn Chopra, BBA ’01 – Bert F. Wertman Alumni Service Award
Karn Chopra, a leader in restructuring and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) at Centerview Partners, stands among the foremost experts in his field. Beyond his 25 years of professional success, Chopra gives back by teaching corporate restructuring at Ross, mentoring students, and serving on nonprofit boards that promote equity, support youth, and advance justice. His dedication strengthens Ross’s community and widens the school’s impact far beyond campus.- Alecia Dillon, EMBA ’20 – G.O.L.D. Alumni Award
Alecia Dillon, CFO of the Health Foundation of South Florida, has overseen a $200 million endowment and facilitated more than $15.3 million in grants to advance health equity, economic justice, and housing security. In addition to her work as Treasurer of the Florida Community Loan Fund and Principal at REV Global, she continues to champion mission-driven investments and operational excellence across both the nonprofit and private sectors.

The David D. Alger Alumni Achievement Award, now in its 36th year, is one of the school’s highest honors, recognizing graduates whose professional accomplishments bring distinction to themselves and benefit broader society.
The Bert F. Wertman Alumni Service Award boasts a legacy of more than three decades, celebrating alumni for their outstanding commitment and meaningful service to the school and the University of Michigan.
The Graduate of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D.) Alumni Award, inaugurated five years ago, spotlights the powerful impact of recent alumni whose early-career achievements and engagement enhance the reputation of Ross and further the school’s mission to inspire positive change.
