Michigan Ross Launches New ‘Maymester’ for Undergraduates at U-M

This May, the Ross School of Business is offering rising junior and senior students across the University of Michigan the opportunity to earn core and elective business credits in just four weeks through a new program called Maymester

Students who take advantage of Maymester can enroll in 1.5- and 3-credit online courses that run May 5-29, which is three weeks shorter than the U-M spring term. This means that participants can complete Maymester courses and still fully participate in internships beginning in June.

“We decided to introduce Maymester to accommodate students' busy schedules by providing them with the opportunity to take core and elective business courses in a condensed format in May,” said Norm Bishara, associate dean of Undergraduate Programs at Michigan Ross. “With the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to offer all of these classes in a virtual format for May 2020, to further serve students at this extraordinary time. Not only will Maymester offer students flexibility, it is also designed to be a cohort-based experience so participants will have access to virtual resources and additional programming at Ross.”

The courses slated for the first Michigan Ross Maymester are:

There will be seven virtual class sessions per week during Maymester, spread between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Due to scheduling constraints, students cannot take more than two courses concurrently, but they can pair courses with other U-M courses or experiences that fit into their schedule.

In addition to frequent course sessions, Maymester students can access virtual resources and programming from the Office of Undergraduate Programs and the Career Development Office at Michigan Ross.

Registration will take place during U-M's spring/summer class registration. Ross BBA students will have registration appointments scheduled April 6-17.
